When you are doing what you love, work rarely feels disenchanting. As a leadership coach and parent, I encourage everyone to leverage their strengths and find their passion.
The BBC has a series called Bright Sparks and they asked “leaders of today to highlight some of the biggest challenges that the leaders of tomorrow can help to address.” According to Winnie Byanyima (executive director of Oxfam International), creating quality jobs that will improve millions of lives worldwide is top-of-her-mind.
The article Ms. Byanyima crafted is informative and a bit unnerving. Should I continue to encourage my child and his friends to leverage their strengths and find fulfilling work? That seems a bit Pollyanna, especially if the US gig economy appears to be repeating the “19th Century working conditions that existed before regulation.”
