Strengthening Leadership, Decision-Making, and Organizational Performance
I’m DonnaMaria Vigil-King, Ph.D., PCC, and I work with leaders and organizations to strengthen how they think, decide, and lead in complex environments.
At the core of my work is a simple belief:
Better outcomes start with better thinking.
With more than two decades of experience across pharmaceutical, healthcare, government, and high-tech sectors, I’ve led and supported initiatives within organizations such as Intel, Pfizer, Cisco, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and the FDA. These experiences have given me a grounded understanding of what it takes to lead, operate, and make decisions in high-stakes and highly regulated environments.
My work sits at the intersection of leadership, organizational systems, and decision quality. I bring a combination of scientific rigor, real-world experience, and a deeply human approach to growth and change—grounded in a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, extensive experience with assessment and development, and more than 3,000 hours of executive coaching.
How I Work
While I often work directly with leaders and teams, many of the challenges organizations face are bigger than any one person or intervention.
DVKing Group reflects how this work is delivered. While I lead engagements as an independent consultant, I partner with a network of trusted experts to design and deliver system-wide initiatives.
This model allows us to bring together the right expertise—across leadership, talent, systems, and strategy—depending on what the work requires.
Because meaningful change rarely comes from a single insight or workshop.
It comes from aligning how leaders think, how decisions are made, and how organizations operate—over time.
What Guides the Work
Most leadership development focuses on building skills.
My work focuses on strengthening how leaders think.
This includes:
- How problems are framed
- How assumptions are surfaced and tested
- How reasoning is applied and communicated
- How uncertainty and risk are evaluated
- How organizational conditions shape decisions
When these elements are aligned, leaders make better decisions, teams operate more effectively, and organizations perform more consistently.
Working Together
For Organizations and Executive Leaders
I partner with organizations facing complex, high-stakes challenges where decision quality, alignment, and leadership effectiveness directly impact outcomes.
This work often includes:
- Strengthening leadership decision-making
- Improving team alignment and effectiveness
- Supporting transformation and change initiatives
- Designing systems that reinforce better thinking and performance
The focus is practical and grounded: helping leaders and teams make better decisions, more consistently, in the environments they actually operate in.
For Individual Leaders and Coaching Clients
I also work one-on-one with leaders who are navigating growth, transition, or increased complexity in their roles.
Coaching provides space to step back, think clearly, and move forward with intention.
Together, we focus on:
- Clarifying priorities and direction
- Strengthening self-awareness and leadership presence
- Improving decision-making and confidence under pressure
Even the most experienced leaders benefit from having a place to think out loud, challenge assumptions, and sharpen how they lead.
Background and Perspective
I am a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and have been part of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) since 2009, where I adhere to the ICF Code of Ethics in my work with clients and organizations.
Growing up in New Mexico shaped my appreciation for endurance, creativity, and perspective. It also gave me a lasting respect for how environment shapes people—and how people, in turn, shape what is possible within their environments. That perspective continues to influence how I approach leadership, growth, and change.
I work with leaders and organizations who want to improve how they think, decide, and perform—especially when the stakes are high and the path forward is not immediately clear.
If that reflects the challenges you are facing, I would welcome the opportunity to connect.
